A Tennessee Highway Patrol police officer was injured in the I-24 Coffee County shooting. According to the authorities, he was shot on Thursday night after traffic halted in Coffee County. As per the Tennessee Department of Examination (TBI), a THP police officer halted a westward vehicle on I-24 around 11 PM on Thursday.
The vehicle drove away and shots were discharged from inside the car, hitting the THP officer’s vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle was halted again when spike strips were sent. And the suspect leaves the vehicle and opens fire. He attacked one of the officers.
The suspect was beaten when the police returned fire on the highway. Police officers were transported to a Nashville hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the suspect was taken to a hospital in Chattanooga.
The crime location was cleared and I-24 returned Friday morning. TBI Specialists keep on researching an I-24 Coffee County shooting that happened after a traffic stop the previous evening. The incident involved the suspect and the THP Officer. Both were harmed in the incident and were hospitalized.
